The man returns to the caves

I can imagine those old Greeks watching the skies and trying to find out what were the stars, holding a handful of sand and imagining that it was this elementary piece that consisted everything. I can imagine them looking at the sun and comparing it with the rest of the sky. I can imagine them discussing whether those mathematical analysis confirmed the sphericity of the Earth, commenting to each other (in disguised form) the heliocentric theory could be valid. Occasional restless young man if you could leave the planet, another if the man could not have been always so.

Some, more bold, if the existence of gods was necessary ... So true human civilization began, with questions. No matter whether there was an immediate response, the important thing was to find a real solution to the question. One logical explanation that held its own. That civilization began to hatch covers to be irrational to look further. To know what that got married, where is and why it's there. The sense of their existence was no longer eat to live to mate. The direction was to study the chick, the shell and around him. The Greeks gave us some answers, but their number was negligible for the vast amount of questions.

Now, some twenty centuries later, we know some answers to these questions. We know that matter is made, what is. We know what the earth where, how, how it moves and where it is. We know they are the stars and the sun illuminates why. We know why we are glued to the floor. We know that man is nothing special, but a stage of evolution that emerged from the field. It is a distant relative of the bacterium and a close relative of the chimpanzee. But in his background, given the presence of a star, the subject of which he's done. know that our star is comĂșny not occupy a special place in the galaxy. And we could continue with a number of answers that with effort the species has been acquiring. Too many questions and that makes even feel the force of the mystery that motivates us to investigate. Knowing that God in the most common form is not necessary, indeed, absolutely necessary. Therefore, what surrounds us has a logic understandable that we can understand. Everything has a meaning and we are here.

But we are animals and sometimes seem to make an involution. When the answers is more than ever within our grasp, when at last we can really change a human being in a special animal to unlock the mysteries that have so concerned for thousands of years ... When the answers mark the meaning of our lives are before us, we run into our shells encasing. To give an understanding of nature, the cosmos, the universal order to look at us our navel, to focus our attention on our petty little matter internally. Culture, politics or ilk are worse hobbies that keep society entertaining as a ball to a dog. These are serious things we say and those with spirit eager to understand the mechanics of the universe we sympathize with this poor sick society that has left the way back to the caves.

Greek imagine those longing for answers and I see before me an ignorant society that disdains poor responses to them served on a silver platter. A poor species can still be kind and rich in wisdom, has chosen the path of the machine led by their selfish genes, leading to a slowdown semicaos and scientific advancement. Some poor animals but think they are superior, however, behave like any other. Prefer to believe that mythical explanations for life in a magical aura of ignorance not brave enough to accept reality, no matter how we present.

I doubt that few people can change the opinion of five billion, so those wishing to understand the cosmos, we should go ahead and keep letting us take the burden of others, avoid conflict and seek the maximum development of knowledge as far as possible. Live as rational beings and not burn time with trivial matters. We must be consistent, we have to be an example in which some of the flock can be fixed and leave it. We understand and delight. And then die peacefully quiet with a job well done and time well spent.

[Science] Travelers of space in our eyes

When we have a light on, it seems to be like rain falling from a large area and sweep everything. As if the bulb was actually an activator of the light is on permanent status in the room (sometimes on and others off). The power of the bulb would be the "power of activation." This respite is the feeling you subjectively and thoughtless. Something like the feeling that the earth is stationary and the sun revolves around it.

But it is really exciting encounter with reality in the face. I begin with a simple example, a halogen lamp. These bulbs are characterized by the large amount of light that can emit light makes the room without difficulty. The operation is as follows. The current travels to the lamp. There he encounters the resistance of tungsten. Electricity electrons collide with the tungsten and make these energy gain (energy level up.) This new level is temporary, so the tungsten electron returns to its original level emitting a photon and thermal energy. This set of photons are scattered around the room, brightening. Incidentally, the halogen lamp also emits ultraviolet radiation, so have a glass in front of her which absorbs this radiation. But remember, all that light that surrounds us has its roots in a piece of no more than five millimeters. I include these photos.

But here we were talking about a simple home and small lamp. But what the great light of our great home? The Sun, with a diameter of one million three hundred ninety-two thousand kilometers (1.392 million km, 109 times greater than Earth) inside fuses hydrogen atoms to become helium atoms. There is a difference of mass becomes light energy equation due to Einstein's special relativity. The time it takes the photon to reach the core of our eye is a little more than a million years. Although in reality the time it takes from leaving the Sun until it reaches our eye is about 500 seconds (approx.), about 8 minutes or less. But remember that everything we see around us is because the Sun (a star negligible compared with the rest of the universe) is dedicated to fuse hydrogen to 1,392,000 km away for a photon, it takes a million years to reach us, are captured by our eyes and converted into nerve impulses.

The vast majority of light that makes us see ...

Comes from a distant star ...

The

photos are made with a few seconds apart. The resistance and the solar disk were taken with a filter for solar eclipses Glasses are opaque black color filtering plenty of light and is only possible to see something very intense sources.

SALUD! You

[Photo] Hell in the city

Cities are, as a rule ugly. Gray buildings, dirt streets, narrow ... For those who live there, nature seems to be in isolation, out of the plastic where we are. With a polluted atmosphere which makes the scope of our pulomones O2 and makes it impossible In light of the stars (who has traveled for millions of years) can not penetrate the layer of CO and other pollutants that we cover, there is a sense that we live completely isolated from nature that made us.
However, in a rainy day things change. The deep voice of Mother Gaia is heard and the people frightened by the strange thing is hiding in their homes. The silence, the stranger, begins to fill the empty streets to make way for the opera of the raindrops falling to the surface attracted by gravity.
After the storm, nature left its signature in the form of these clouds reflect where we live.

Walking the coast

The other day a friend called me. He wanted to make a small tour of the coast by bicycle. I, who had a few days in a sedentary at home, gladly accepted. In total there were about 60 kilometers (maybe more, round trip). The last village we came to was Vilassar de Mar. What impressed me is the great difference in the outskirts of Barcelona. The south (of where I am, just across from Barcelona I'm in the picture) is industrial gray. The north (more coastal) are small populations (except Sant Andreu) with smaller buildings and houses that convey a welcoming feeling of tranquility.
Pictured: Left the sea (beach), a server at the center, right, the railway line, the background you can see the mountain of Montjuic and the chimneys of thermal plant .. Besos
